Torn & Frayed.
And it's not "liberal guilt" at all. It's called being fed up with people of my own race who act like absolute fucking morons...

"White" is not a race.....just sayin'...

my personal definition of scandal is skewed cause i expect politicians to be screw-ups in their personal lives, which is why i turn the other cheek when one of them cheats or is caught engaging in activity with prostitutes or whatever else. My definition of a scandal in politics is something that affects the political environment of the country. Iran-contra, wiretapping, and watergate are all scandals in my view. Watergate is the only one that really affected the political climate in a way that outraged people of all ideology. the other 2 only caused debate, never produced any real solutions to the countries problems cause the ideological divide drowned out reasonable voices

Hard to choose: there were major scandals involving Andrew Johnson and Warren G. Harding (probably two of the worst and most corrupt U.S. Presidents), in addition to Nixon's Watergate. W. Bush winning the 2000 election, even though he probably didn't win the popular vote (or the vote in Florida - where his brother was governor), could be considered a scandal, I suppose. Every Presidency has something that could be considered a "scandal" by partisan critics - some of the childish posts in this thread are proof of that.

There are a LOT more than what I can think of off the top of my head. But I think if you include Johnson, Harding and Nixon, you've captured the opinions of probably 80% of actual historians.

I wish there was something like a Flu Shot to get rid of this. Stand up for Christ Sakes, White People! Wanna give the store away twice?

Problem is, the people who seem most concerned about this (and obsess about it the most) tend to live in trailer parks and have cars perched atop cinder blocks outside their "homes". They are quite simply the people who are one peg from falling off the totem pole of society. Think about it. When's the last time you saw a Confederate flag flying in front of a $750K house in a gated community? :dunno: I'm just sayin'.

Anyway, after I thought about the options for a second, I went with Nixon and Watergate.

There's nothing wrong with the Dixie Rebel Flag.

A lot of those people in those $750K homes are Limousine liberal/ Champagne socialist or Rinos, or something equally as horrible.

You do realize the Confederate flag that was/is "embraced" by southerners as a "part of their heritage"....and then later by rednecks everywhere.....WAS actually a Confederate battle flag, as opposed to the actual national flag of the CSA don't you? And even the battle flag wasn't embraced until like the 1950's when integration and the civil rights movement started to really take root. Where was that pride in one's heritage in the nearly 100 years between the end of the Civil War, and the "sudden" embrace of a Confederate battle flag? Hmmmmmmm, I'm sure that "pride" wasn't actually an attempt to send a message to Washington when Washington started standing up for the rights of all of it's citizens.....including blacks, could it have been? I guess they forgot who won and who lost the 1st time around. :2 cents:

Sometimes, trying to reason with people is absolutely pointless, and a waste of time......because of the person you are dealing with. This is one of those times.

Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
Honestly, Harding should be added to the list. Two affairs and an illegitimate child followed by the distinct possibility that he was poisoned by his wife for these affairs and the proven fact that she destroyed thousands of official and unofficial documents in order to cover it all up. The whole thing was Monica Lewinsky on steroids.

True. Not to mention the Teapot Dome scandal that happened under his watch.

Also, Grant's administration was wracked with all types of corruption but there was really no single defining scandal so perhaps he wouldn't qualify. However, he was a naive president who was easily influenced by unscrupulous charlatans with private agendas.

The obvious answer of the choices offered is Nixon and Watergate. Nothing else comes close.

There's nothing wrong with the Mexican and Canadian flags either. But this is the United States of America. If ones allegiance is to some other country, there are planes leaving this republic every hour on the hour.

I have no idea what those pop culture catch phrases even mean, Will. For instance, what is a RINO? Is that a Republican who refuses to sign one of those dopey pledges?

Many who voted for Obama will also end up there happily to pull the lever again for him.

If Father Time McCain had won (and then dropped dead), we'd probably ALL be living in trailer parks under President Palin - the lucky ones anyway.

I'm not now, and never have been a member of either major political party. But as time goes on, I become more and more amused (and disgusted) by both political parties in the U.S. And just as George Washington warned, partisanship will be the source of our undoing. And those words seem to now be ringing true.
